Frequently asked questions
A little clarity before you begin.
How lessons work, learning support, assessments and the next steps.
How does tuition work?
We offer online one-to-one academic tuition, GCSE groups and selected home tuition, alongside Islamic education. Enquire with the learner’s level and goals; we agree tutor availability, fees and arrangements before registration.
Do you offer free trials?
No. Assessments are paid, and payment is required before lessons begin. Academic assessments use the applicable lesson rate. The initial Islamic assessment costs £10 for approximately 30 minutes, credited against the first tuition payment if the learner enrols.
Can my child attend if they have SEN or SEND?
Please discuss their needs before enrolling. We consider adjustments to pace, explanations and resources and may agree a learning plan. A formal diagnosis is not normally required to discuss support. We will consider whether we can meet the learner’s needs; tutors do not diagnose.
How is my child assessed?
We discuss their starting point and use an appropriate initial assessment. Tutors then check understanding through questions, practice and ongoing work. Islamic assessments consider relevant reading, Tajweed, memorisation and Islamic knowledge.
How do you choose a tutor?
We consider subject, level, availability and the learner’s support needs. Your tutor and lesson arrangements are confirmed before enrolment.
How do I enrol?
Start with an enquiry or the relevant academic or Islamic registration form. Read the parent policies, complete the Policy Acknowledgement Form and arrange payment before lessons begin.
How much does tuition cost?
Online academic tuition starts at £15 per hour for Primary and KS3, £20 for GCSE and £25 for A-Level. GCSE groups cost £10 per student per one-hour session. The Prices page lists home tuition and Islamic programme fees; confirm the applicable fee before booking.
How large are the groups?
Our usual GCSE group size is two to five students. A temporary additional place may be agreed with management while a second group is arranged; see the full-group question below. Maktab groups have up to six children. Hifz groups have up to three learners in a 90-minute session, with 30 minutes allocated to each. New GCSE groups need at least two students to open.
What do we need for online lessons?
A suitable device, reliable internet, a quiet learning space and the materials agreed with your tutor. Keep lesson links private. Ask us about any access needs before booking.
Will parents receive progress updates?
Academic tutors prepare half-termly reports, with weekly parent updates for GCSE groups. Children’s Islamic programmes provide annual reports, with termly reports on request. Adult Islamic reports are optional on request.
Does my child need to read Qur’an already?
No. The assessment helps identify an appropriate starting point, including Qaida for beginners. Programme and year-group goals are adapted to the learner’s progress.
When do Islamic lessons take place?
Normally Monday to Friday, between 4 pm and 7 pm UK time, with alternatives by agreement and tutor availability. Children’s programmes follow the agreed Lancashire teaching calendar and close for Ramadan and Eid. Ramadan fees are reduced proportionately; summer continuation is optional, with payments paused for families who do not continue. Adult holiday arrangements are agreed individually.
What happens if we miss or cancel a lesson?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations normally remain payable, subject to the applicable waiver and circumstances. Read the Parent Policies and programme guide for the full terms or contact Asad about your situation.
Who should I contact about a concern?
For routine questions or complaints, contact Asad. If a complaint concerns Asad, contact Aman. Safeguarding concerns go directly to the safeguarding team listed on the Policies page; in immediate danger call 999.
What happens when a GCSE group is full?
If a GCSE group is full, management may offer a temporary place in the current group while another group is arranged. This can temporarily take the group above its usual five students, and is subject to tutor capacity, the learners’ needs and agreement with parents before joining. Once at least two learners are ready for a new group, another tutor can lead a parallel session, normally at the same published time and subject to availability. We may instead split or rebalance the existing group into suitable smaller groups. We confirm any change of tutor, group or time with the families involved.
Can we pay for a chosen number of lessons?
For academic one-to-one tuition and GCSE groups, you can request the number of lessons that suits you, whether that is one lesson or a block paid for in advance. Tell us the number of sessions, subjects and preferred dates. We confirm availability, lesson length, the price per session and the total before payment. Buying a block does not automatically secure a particular tutor or time; these are agreed with you first. Cancellation and rescheduling arrangements are confirmed before purchase. Monthly Islamic programmes keep their published programme arrangements.
How do we arrange lesson dates?
Tell us your preferred days, times, subjects and number of sessions in an enquiry. We confirm tutor availability and the agreed dates before you pay. Sending an enquiry does not reserve a time or take a payment.
